Google Updates Platform Distribution Numbers Gingerbread Down To 38.5%, Jelly Bean Up To 28.4%

As usual Google has updated monthly platform distribution numbers for Android in its developer dashboard. The numbers, based on devices accessing the Play Store over the last 14 days (ending May 1st), tell developers which versions of Android are most prevalent, and which are on the decline.

This month, as last month, we're seeing a decline in Gingerbread and a rise in Jelly Bean. Gingerbread has dropped from 39.8% to 38.5%, a 1.3% drop for those keeping tally at home. Jelly Bean, meanwhile, has seen a slightly more substantial shift, rising 3.4% from 25% to 28.4%.

Elsewhere, the ebb and flow of version numbers is more or less expected. clair and Donut are grasping for dear life, sitting still at 1.7% and 0.1% respectively, Froyo has dropped a mere 0.3%, and Honeycomb has dropped another 0.1%. Ice Cream Sandwich, likewise, is down 1.8% to 27.5%. To see the numbers (and other useful info) hit the link below.

iPhone 5S, Launch set for July?

Although Apple continues to deny the presence of a new iPhone at WWDC 2013 that ensures you will speak only of software, the rumors do not stop and even indicate a supposed launch date for the next smartphone from Cupertino. From the French portal NoWhereElsecomes in fact a photograph depicting an alleged stolen list belonging to the telephone operator Japanese KDDI, which is not only confirmed the existence of an iPhone 5S, but even a date of delivery to the carrier : June 20th, a few days after the WWDC 2013 for a launch on the market ready for July. For the moment there are no indications as to the authenticity of the document, but it did the presence at the event would surely be granted.

Apple has in fact indicated that the WWDC 2013 was organized to speak mainly of software, which has convinced many fans and experts who basically will really like this: iOS 7 is in fact the first step towards a big revolution in software for all apple devices bitten , so many have thought that the event does not host any presentation hardware, because this time the U.S. giant wants to stake everything on the next version of the operating system.

This news puts everything at stake: Apple, moreover, could not fail in its attempt to revolutionize the ecosystem that has created from software , but at the same time launching a new hardware to serve as a forerunner to the future of iOS. 5S iPhone could therefore be a smartphone does not have big news from the aesthetic point of view and at the same time, however, surprising fans of the bitten apple with the revolution provided with iOS 7. All that remains is to wait and see if it is really so.

Transfer Digital Copy and iTunes to Archos 80 G9 Android Tablet

"Hello, Its been a while since I have used certain program convert iTunes and Digital Copy movies to my Archos 80 G9 Tablet... but now after I convert I'm having a problem where the audio is off. you can see lips moving before anyone is talking. its really annoying and impossible to watch. is there anything I can do to fix this?"

As far as I know, Digital Copy and iTunes movies have DRM copy protection. The DRM protection prevents you from playing legally purchased videos and movies on non-Apple media players. So to watch Digital Copy & iTunes movies on your Archos 80 G9 Tablet, you need to remove the DRM protection first. I found a powerful Digital Copy/iTunes to Archos 80 G9 Converter named Pavtube Chewtune which shows good performance. The following contents will share top DRM removal program and offers some tips about how to strip DRM on Digital Copy and iTunes and convert them to MP4 for transferring to Archos 80 G9 Tablet playback freely.

See Also:

Before conversion you need do some preparations for Digital Copy and iTunes conversion:

1. For Digital copy movie conversion, first of all, transfer Digital Copy to computer in Windows Media (.wmv) or iTunes video format (.m4v).

2. For iTunes movie conversion, set iTunes not to remember position:
  • Launch iTunes, and switch to "Movies" under LIBRARY.
  • Select the videos you would like to convert, right click on them, and select "Get Info".
  • Switch to "Options" tab, find "Remember position" and select "No" from its drop-down list. Click "OK" to confirm.

And here we go with the DRM removal process. The process is straightforward.

Step 1. Run the top Digital Copy/iTunes to Archos 80 G9 Converter, drag and drop digital copy or iTunes movie to the software.

Step 2. Then select an friendly video format for Archos 80 G9 Tablet, e.g. select "Format -> Archos -> Archos 80 G9 Tablet Video (*.mp4)" for Digital Copy & iTunes to  Archos 80 G9 Tablet conversion. Basically .mp4 format is an universal format for Android tablets.

Step 3. (Optional) - You can click "Settings" to adjust the output parameters as you want. For example, click "Video Bitrate" to change the smoothness and quality when playback, and usually 1500-2000 kbps can provide you with a very good viewing experience. Set resolution as 1024*768 can help you watch full screen videos.

(Note: You can edit the video before conversion. Trim, Crop, Effect, Watermark functions are very useful and convenient.)

Step 4. Click "Convert" button to start. NVIDIA CUDA and AMD APP acceleration is perfectly supported by the DRM Converter for Archos 80 G9.

After the conversion, you should be able to transfer Digital Copy and iTunes movie to Archos 80 G9 Tablet or any other Android-based Tab you own and display movies as you like.

For me, I choose "Format > Common Video -> Android and Apple Devices(*.mp4)" as the best format for Digital Copy and iTunes to Archos 80 G9 conversion because after several tests with multiple video profiles, I find this profile with xvid video codec takes less conversion speed but output great video quality compared to H.264 .mp4 video. Although the 8.0-inch Tablet supports video playback up to 1080p, I choose 1280*720 for converting Digital Copy & iTunes to Archos 80 G9 – the tablet screen resolution is 1024 x 768, and I don't plan to watch Archos 80 G9 videos on HDTV via HDMI output - just common needs for playback on local tablet. For watching videos on most Android tablet, Bitrate in 1500~2000kbps is just all right. I find that Bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss.

Tips:

1. If you want to copy/rip/compress DVD movies to Archos 80 G9 Tablet for watching freely, the Best DVD Ripping for Android can help you, there is a guide can refer to: Ripping DVD movies for Archos 80 G9 tablet with best video quality

2. If you are put and play 1080p/720p HD Videos (MKV, AVI, VOB, Tivo, MTS, TS, VRO, MPG, WMV, FLV, F4V videos, etc.), the Best Archos Video Converter Ultimate is the best choice fot you.

Google Now could soon be making its way to your desktop

Those of you with an Android device running Ice Cream Sandwich who were green with envy at your Android 4.1 brothers and sisters and their full access to Google Now, don’t let it get you down. It seems you might soon be able to still get in on some Google Now action on your desktop (at least it’s something, right?).

Some underlying code found buried in a Chrome extension developed by Google revealed the search giant’s plans to release Now for the desktop, bringing back some of that iGoogle functionality we all loved. References to “get started with Google Now,”  “just the right information at just the right time,” “Google Now uses your Home location to show relevant information like weather, traffic conditions, and nearby places,” and “now_card.” all make an appearance in the code (pictured above).

No word on an expected rollout, but this kinda stuff sounds perfect for a Google I/O announcement next month. What do you guys think, could your Google homepage better serve you after its been infused with the power of Google Now?
