How to Rip Blu-Ray in the Right Way?

For a long time I have ripped my movies for home use and have been fighting through many different programs of swinging character and swinging prisms. Most functionally work for specific purposes or have the great advantage of being free, but no one can do all tasks as well. There are programs like Makemaker that makes MKV files of your DVDs but can not handle Blu-Ray, Pavtube iMedia Converter that manages Blu-Ray but not in lossless format or with multiple audio and subtitle or Handbrake that's free but Which can not combine sections on a Series DVD / Blu-Ray and is quite slow.

For a long time I have also experimented with file formats and found that MKV is just becoming?the most useful format in all respects, so this guide focuses on an end result in MKV.

Additionally, I am tired of having to install different software to handle the different discs I would like to rip and should remember the different settings and procedures for each program.

I have chosen that ByteCopy from Pavtube should be my favorite tool as it has some obvious benefits when it comes to ripping. You can rip Blu-Ray and DVD on 2 methods. Either as lossless copy or as a converted encoded file with a less natural quality loss, but more importantly you can select multiple audio and subtitle tracks and you can encode them individually in the entire file to match your hardware setup as best as possible.?I personally rarely use lossless as it takes too much and would like my Blu-Ray into a 4-5 GB file for network playback for my ATV4.

Pavtube ByteCopy

So what can ByteCopy do? It looks like many of the other programs on the market when it rips and copies Blu-ray Disc and DVD movies to MKV. ByteCopy plays an irreplaceable role as the exclusive Blu-ray ripper that converts the main movie on Blu-ray, audio tracks and subtitles exactly as you want without compromising video and audio quality. When it encoder and diminish Blu-ray content, CUDA acceleration is turned on by default whenever possible and it gives a significant boost in speed.

Export file format: MKV
Video: H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC, VC-1, MPEG pass-through; H.264, Xvid, MPEG, VC-1 encoded
Audio: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS Digital, DTS-HD High-Def, DTS-HD MA Pass-through; Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, AAC, MP3 encoded.

Method 1

Step 1. Blu-ray rip in Lossless Mode, ie a rip of Blu-Ray main movie with all original video, audio and subtitle tracks without changing anything. For those who have a lot of disk space and who do not want to compromise on anything. Start ByteCopy and load your disk by clicking the DVD / Blu-Ray button. The movie is now loaded (copy protected or not) and the main movie is automatically selected, but everything can be selected. Useful if you have plenty of space.

Load Blu-ray movies

Step 2. Click the converter button to start riping your Blu-Ray to MKV, with the main file, all audio and subtitle tracks. If you have finished ripping, you can click "Browse Export Path" to find the MKV file. TIP! You can change the output path under settings in the software. Then just wait

Start Blu-ray to MKV Ripping process

Under lossless (default) mode, Pavtube ByteCopy will convert Blu-ray movies to MKV without changing anything. All it takes is to rip the main movie file from the disk and pack it in an MKV container. You get lossless quality with all subtitles and audio tracks, because original video, audio and subtitles are preserved. In addition, you also keep chapter marks.

Method 2

Certainly the method I use most. It shreds the disc with the subtitles and audio tracks you want, while compressing the file to a somewhat more handy size without compromising on quality compromises. I will show you how to do this, but you can change the different parameters for what suits you best. I rip my movies for a setup with an NAS that streams to a jailbreaked ATV4 with Firecore media player installed. This gives the smallest file the exact content I want.

Step 1. Load the file from ByteCopy. The main movie is automatically selected.

Load Blu-ray movies

Step 2. Select the title in the window and click edit disk. You can now choose which audio tracks and subtitles you want. TIP! You can set your selection by default in ByteCopy's settings, so they are remembered each time. In addition, you can also select a specific player you want to rip to, so ByteCopy converts light and subtitles to file formats that are compatible with your player. I always use lossless and put my own choice of file types.

Select desired Blu-ray subtitles and audio tracks

Step 3. If it's only a specific part you want to rip (for example, only main), go directly to the selected track and click Title Settings. Here you can choose to rip in Full HD, or as I do just below HD. At Full HD, I recommend bitrate of 8000, at HD you can reach 6000. Is it a DVD you rip, then choose 720x576 in Size and you can beat a bitrate of around 2000. Remember to tick the Enco if you Will change the resolution and bitrate.

Customize video settings

Step 4. Next turn is the sound. I always start by clicking uncheck All, as I usually only want Danish and English audio. After checking the checkboxes you want, you can choose whether you want the Encode audio, or just keep it as it is in Source. I always keep it as ATV4?can handle DTSHD for a stereo TV speaker, but for some, it may be necessary to convert to a stereo track.

Remove unwanted audio tracks

Step 5. Then we are on subtitles. Again Unchecl All and select the subtitle (s) you want. I always choose Danish only, but some may want others too. When done, click OK, and click the MKV button to begin.

Remove unwanted subtitles

Then the task is created and ByteCopy starts calculating time and size based on your choices and the power of your computer. As you can see in the screenshots below, ByteCopy is quite accurate in its calculations, and only diverges a very small amount. The time you see listed is on a 2012 13 "Macbook Air, and I think it's quite good to be able to rip and compress / encode a Blu-Ray disc in less than 2 hours. Is it just a DVD, then we talk for half an hour.

Start Blu-ray movie copying process

ByteCopy is by far the best and fastest program I've tried. You can download a trial version from Pavtube, either ByteCopy for Windows or ByteCopy for Mac OS X. You can make 7 lossless rips with the trial and want to rip and encode to get a watermark on the movie. You can purchase the software for only $ 42 including unlimited lifetime upgrades. Enjoy.

5 Quick Solutions to FLAC File Issues While Using VLC

VLC is a popular Media Player for playing Video, Audio or Music files. Apart from that, you can also use it as a powerful Audio Converter to handle some incompatible audio format such as - FLAC. However, a lot of people complain that they encounter problems when using VLC to play FLAC files such as VLC crashes issue, stuttering issue, skipping issue or audio missing issue. The following article will share 5 quick solutions to fix common FLAC issues when using VLC.

FLAC file issues when using with VLC

1. VLC 2.2.0 or 2.1.2 crashes when opening FLAC files

VLC 2.2.0 (and 2.1.2) crashes when opening FLAC files that worked on previous versions. Files are located on a local drive.

Solution: There're 2 ways for choice, the temporary fix is to replace libflac_plugin.dll from PluginsCodec with this:, the permanent one is to uninstall VLC and visit download the latest version 2.2.1 (assume you're using Windows operating system). Make sure to download the corresponding 32-bit file or 64-bit file.

2. VLC crashes when trying to encode FLAC files

This is another issue that users might be bothered since stutter delay ruins the video experience to a large extent.

Solution: VLC can only decode this type of container, and cannot encode it. To encode files in FLAC format use the flac command line tool from FLAC'S website.

3. FLAC stutter Delay in VLC

This is another annoying issue that destroys the video experience with VLC media player.

Solution: Open VLC, open VLC Preferences, click on Settings>Preferences or hit Ctrl-S if you have experience with personal computers. Then following the picture steps to finish:

Fix video stutter delay in VLC player

4. FLAC Skipping in Rincewind

I am however experiencing audio skipping when playing FLAC files from the local disk. The skipping is not permanent, but happens every minute or so for 5 - 10 seconds. Am experiencing this problem both using the built-in line out on a MacBook running 10.7.5 and using an M-Audio Firewire 1814 soundcard on a Mac mini running 10.9. Not experiencing such issues with any other applications on either machine.

Solution: In fact, it was just a bug that has been resolved in the latest version of VLC, you can upgrade your software to the latest version for once and all.

5. No Audio While Playing FLAC Files

Today I went to play a FLAC file and got no sound at all. The tags for the file are there and the player seems to be playing the file normally as far as the clock goes. Im using windows and I tried uninstall/reinstall but that didnt fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution: Sound card was frozen or another program was using it. Just restart your computer.

There are still other ridiculous issues not listed that a minor part of users experience on a daily basis while using the VLC. As a suggestion, you can turn to the best VLC assistant as a way out. It is no exaggeration that with Wondershare VLC Assistant, you'll no longer face FLAC file not playing issue at all.

Have some personal MKV movies or TV shows downloaded from online video sharing sites or ripped from Blu-ray or DVD disc and wish to find a simple desktop video player software to open the MKV files on your Mac. The first choice you might take is VLC, a free media player software that offers enhanced media playback capability for various digital video, DVD and CD. However, a lot of user complain that they can't get MKV files played properly with VLC and there are many unexpected issues such as VLC MKV choppy playback or VLC stuttering, skipping or freezing when playing some high resolution MKV video. The more likely cause of the problem however is down to hardware. Most content that is online in MKV is high-definition in H.264 / AVC, and if you CPU / GPU is inadequate to decode it, you will get jumpy or shaky playback.

Sometimes, there will be VLC skipping issues when you are playing high-def media streaming over a network. The good news is that you can solve this problems by disabling hardware acceleration of VLC on some computers.

From the Preferences panel, click "Simple" in the lower left-hand corner, then , go to to Input / Codecs. Click the "Hardware-accelerated decoding" dropdown and choose another option, or Disable it entirely.

Play 4K Video on iPhone/iPad

Have just recorded some 4K footage with your 4K camera, apart from viewing the 4K footage on your 4K TV, you may also come the idea to transfer and watch them on your iPhone/iPad on the move. The following article will show you how to get different types of 4K video played on iPhone/iPad.

Can your iPhone/iPad handle 4K resolution video?

From Apple's official website, we get the information that you can view compatible 4K video on the following iPhone or iPad models:
iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8
iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, New iPad 2017, iPad Mini 5

If you are using previous version of iPhone or iPad, then the device will automatically downscale 4K video to 1080p, which not ensure you a good result. The fact is that you can get clearer pictures when you choose to directly view videos with HD resolution on a iPhone or iPad that support maximum resolution of 1080p.

Play unsupported 4K video on iPhone/iPad

Sometimes, even if you try to play 4K video on those iPad or iPhone models that supports 4K resolution playback, you may still end up with failure. The main reason is both iPhone and iPad can only playback very limited 4K video file that meets the following standards:
- H.264 video up to 4K, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.2 with AAC LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio or Dolby Audio up to 1008 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo or multichannel audio, in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

Therefore, if you happen to own a 4K video with the codec or format of H.265, Prores, MXF, AVI, WMV, MKV, MOV, XAVC, XAVC S, etc, your iPhone or iPad will fail to open that video. In addition, sometimes, even if you have got a 4K video with compatible file format and codec, you may still encounter other playback issues due to the incompatible frame rate, bit rate, aspect ratio, sample rate, audio codec, etc. If you are looking for a comprehensive solution to fix all those format and settings incompatible issue, you can have a try at Pavtube iMedia Converter for Mac, which has full support for all the unsupported 4K format or codec listed above, You can not only use the program to produce iPhone or iPad playable 4K H.264 MP4, MOV or M4V file format, but also adjust other profile settings in the program's "Profile Settings" window to make them adapt with your iPhone/iPad best playback settings.

Adjust output video aspect ratio

Now all available iPhone and iPad models use a 4:3 screen display aspect ratio, however, the camera DCI recorded 4K video adopts an aspect ratio approximately 1.9:1 while the UHD 4K video adopts an aspect ratio of 16:9. When you try to view DCI 4K or UHD 4K video with incompatible aspect ratio on iPhone or iPad, there will be black bars around the video. The good news is that you can easily eliminate this problem by change output video aspect ratio with the "Crop" function in the video editing window.

How to Convert Unsupported 4K Video for iPhone/iPad Playing?

Step 1: Load 4K videos or movies.

Download the free trial version of the program. Launch it on your computer. Click "File" menu and select "Add Video/Audio" or click the "Add Video" button on the top tool bar to import source 4K videos or movies into the program.

Load 4K videos or movies

Step 2: Output iPhone or iPad supported 4K video.

Scroll down the "Format" drop-down options, choose iPhone or iPad compatible 4K file formats by following "Common Video" > "H.264 High Profile Video(*.mp4)".

Output iPhone or iPad supported 4K video

Step 3: Adjust output profile settings.

Click "Settings" on the main interface to adjust output profile settings to make them fit with your new iPad 2017, you can set the output video codec as "h264", audio codec as "aac", video frame rate as "30fps", video file resolution as original (3840*2160 or 4096*2160), audio sample rate as 48000hz, audio bit rate as 160000bps to make them fit with new 2017 iPad best playback settings. If you choose to output to stereo audio or Dolby Audio, please set audio bit rate as 1008000bps and sample rate as 48000Hz.

Step 4: Adjust output video aspect ratio.

Go the "Crop" tab in the "Video Editor" Window, switch to the "Advanced Mode". To change output video aspect ratio, there are several aspect ratios for you to choose from, including 16:10, 16:9, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, and 2:1, here, just choose iPad accepted 4:3 aspect ratio. Once you select the "Display aspect ratio", the "green crop frame" will keep this ratio to crop video and you are able to preview the final effect in real time. If you want to keep the same aspect ratio in your final output files, do remember to set the Video "Size (pix)" in "Settings" section as the same ratio as display aspect ratio.
