Meet trouble in working AVI files with the professional non-linear editing software Lightworks Pro? Actually, it is necessary for us to pay attention, right? Such similar questions are appeared frequently in our editing area. Just like the example below:

‘I am attempting to edit some clips I shot while playing a game. I recorded them with Bandicam, and they are all saved in .avi format. When I try to import one, it says that the audio format is unsupported. Does anyone know of a way that I am either make the video format compatible with LWKS or do I need to convert the videos to a different format and then import?’

Frankly speaking, Lightworks supports a broad range of codecs, but they must adhere to professional television standards. If you read about the codecs it supports on the Tech Specs page, you will find the point! Yes, MP4 is the native supported format for Lightworks Pro. So we could make the trouble easier, right? Tips: For other additional functions you can try on the main interface, such as the ‘Settings’ to adjust your video size, bitrates, etc. Or the ‘Editor’ to make your files in a simple dispose, both of them are deserved to take a look. Here I want to introduce the ‘Merge into one file’ item which can combine your file clips into one on your computer. Is that cool?

All the functional items ther you can have a try! Finally, if you did all your work done, it's time to click the 'Convert' to get your work started. With a faster conversion speed there, you can save a lot of time of waiting!

‘Just got the Sony PXW-X70 and I can't seem to open the .mxf or even successfully transcode the video files into something that can be read on the mac. (Running 10.9.5). I downloaded Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac and the Ackrock Video Converters and neither of them works. They just are able to import the audio but not the video portion. Any Fixer to Make MXF Work with Final Cut Pro?

MXF files cannot work with FCP? Don’t worry about it! In the following page, you can get a fixer as a good assistant.

As we all know that due to the video codec limitation, for the container format MXF, it is not so suitable with the FCP. So for our Mac users, how could we make it possible to smoothly import MXF files in FCP for a nice editing? Firstly, you can take the third-party plug-in as a try, or the second method could be your favorite. With a goos repuatation online, the program we introduced below can make you work MXF files well with Final Cut Pro. Why not have a try?

Fixer One.Canon FCPX plug-in---Only for Canon users
Canon provide a free plug-in to enable the C300’s MXF files to import directly into FCPX without the need to transcode to ProRes. Many users report that they have no problems with the installation and it ‘just works’. However, other users with similar setups report that they cannot import C300 rushes in FCPX, though it works through Log and Capture in FCP7, additionally Adobe Premiere successfully imports C300 MXF. Only FCPX seems affected, and for a limted subset of FCPX users.

Here’s the typical scenario: having run the xpfm211 installer. FCPX sees the folder structure, even the MXF files themselves, but does not recognise either. This is as far as some users get. For some reason, the installer has completed successfully, we are seeing files, but nothing imports. De-installing and re-installing brings the user back to this situation. Very frustrating.

Trying to track the activity of the installer, we see two new plug-ins highlighted in the MIO/RAD/Plugins folder – CanonE1.RADPlug and CanonXF.RADPlug. The latter would appear to be the ‘magic smoke’ for the MXF format. However, this isn’t working. There’s a second empty RADPlugins folder below – should the plugins be in there?

Here’s where it got interesting. I was able to confer with another editor who had a system that did import MXF successfully. The key difference was that he had a CanonXF64.RADPlug folder – not an XF, an XF64. I could not find a similar folder, nor could I make the installer create one. In the end, he just sent me a copy of that folder, and I dragged and dropped it into the same folder I had.

And it worked! It’s pretty obvious because you can see the clips, but also note that the MXF folder heirachy has gone, replaced simply with the usual list of clips on a card or archive.

Fixer Two. Pavtube MXF Converter for Mac/iMixMXF---for other users
As a professional kind of MXF to FCP converter, this program has a good reputation on the Internet. With the easy operation, concise interface, various output choices, it can handle all the MXF files well in FCP.

Tips: iMixMXF is a MXF converting tool that can output multiple audio tracks if you need. Especially for MXF file folder, it indeed has the unique function.

Follow my steps here, we can learn the main tips on how to make MXF converted to ProRes .mov for FCP with this MXF Converter for Mac. When you install it correctly on your computer, With ’Add video’ you can load MXF files in this program. There are several types of ProRes Codec on the output list, ‘Apple ProRes Codec 422 HQ (*.mov) can hold your quality well. Then in the ‘Settings’ item, we can set our personal video size, bitrates, frame rate or even audio channel, etc.

Back to the main interface, hit the ‘Convert’ to start your conversion, Screen shot below can show you the more details. Any other advice and suggestion you can reflect to us.  If you are the first time to work with FCP, we here offer a transfer guide for FCP you can take a reference. Good luck!

Talks on Editing GoPro Videos in a Nice Way

Follow our steps to know how to edit GoPro videos in some popular editing tools if you got the GoPro series. In this article, it explains how could we smoothly edit our GoPro files in Adobe and FCP X. If you have troubles in GoPro recordings, it can help you a lot!

How are GoPro cameras so popular on market?
Do you know why GoPro is more than a sports photography camera? While GoPro was originally designed with action sports in mind, GoPro is just a great camera for almost any application. Many people utilize a GoPro camera as their primary camcorder. If you’re an aspiring filmmaker, especially when it comes to short films, a GoPro camera could be considered a great beginning filming option.

As you know that GoPro cameras are popular with people interested in capturing close-up video of high action sports such as car racing and surfing. Designed to be ultra-portable while capturing high-definition photography and video, GoPro captures action like no other camera. However, how to edit your GoPro in some popular editing software has become a big problem.

GoPro Studio Edit
, a video editing software for PC, which allows you to trim clips, insert transitions, add effects, add music and sound effects, and control speed for fast or slow motion. GoPro Studio Edit is designed to make creating your own great-looking GoPro videos easy and user-friendly.

For other editing programs? If you want to go with a more professional option and you’re willing spend quite a bit of money, another option is Adobe Premiere Pro. This gives you more control over your video clips as you edit, clip, splice, insert transitions, video effects, and add a music soundtrack. For Final Cut Pro X? It features capabilities that are very similar to Adobe Premiere Pro X. With Final Cut Pro X, you can have an incredible amount of control over your clips and how you put your final film together.

While for Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, we cannot import GoPro MP4 filers into them directly, so I here highly recommend you the GoPro Video Converter for Mac to do another conversion step. Such as MPG for Adobe, ProRes for FCP X. Easy operation, concise interface and faster speed, it has a good reputation online.

How to choose the output video formats? When you download the program and import your original files with ‘Add video’ and ‘Add from folder’, you can follow the steps as the screen shot showed to us:
On the output list, choose the ‘Adobe Premiere Pro’>>’MPEG-2 (*.mpg)’ as follows for Adobe,

Also, for FCP X, several types there are waiting for you. With a high quality, I strongly suggest you the Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)(*.mov) as the best one.

Finally, you can click the ‘Convert’ to finish your work and get your work started. Any other advice and questions you can leave as comments below.  If you are the first time to work with FCP, we here offer a transfer guide for FCP you can take a reference. Good luck!

Three Medias Used in FCP X: Native vs. Optimize vs. Proxy

Today we are going to have a talk on three video medias used by FCP X, which is  the best? Join us to get more details.

First of all, you must not be strange with the Final Cut Pro X if you are Apple fans or a professional video editor. Yes, with the all-sided editing functions and stable capacity, it has been popular for a long time. So today here we are going on a topic with three video medias used by FCP X.

Camera native
Optimized (ProRes 422)
Proxy (ProRes 422 Proxy)

Native media is the format shot by your camera. For example, AVCHD, H.264, DV, and HDV are all examples of native media formats.
Optimized media is always ProRes 422. When the “Optimize Media” checkbox is checked during import, FCP X transcodes, which is a fancy way of saying it “converts,” your media from its native format into Apple ProRes 422.
Proxy media is always Apple ProRes 422 Proxy. Proxy media creates a reasonably high-quality media file, but at about 1/4 the size of ProRes 422.

When you import media from either a file or camera, you have the ability to optimize it, or create proxy files.

You also have the ability to convert media after you’ve imported the files. Simply select the clips in the Event Browser that you want to transcode and select File > Transcode media.

Either way, here are your options:
  • If nothing is checked. Final Cut imports the media and edits it in camera native format. This generally provides the greatest savings in storage space, but often requires faster computers to avoid a performance hit.
  • If optimize is checked. Final Cut converts the camera native format into ProRes 422. This provides the best possible performance and image quality, but requires additional storage space (roughly 60 GB per hour of material).
  • If proxy is checked. Final Cut converts the camera native format into ProRes 422 Proxy. This provides much better performance than editing camera native with reasonable image quality, while requiring less storage space than ProRes 422 (roughly 18 GB per hour of material).

What’s “reasonable image quality?” Generally, the higher the bit rate of the media, the better the image quality. For this reason, since ProRes 422 has a much higher bit rate than ProRes Proxy, the image quality is potentially better. This is especially true if you are doing color correction, green-screen keying, or lots of image manipulation. However, if you are simply capturing and editing consumer-grade camera images, without many effects, you may not see any quality difference at all between optimized and proxy media.

Additionally, I have to mention here if you got some other footages shot by HD cameras such like MTS,MXF, AVI, etc. We here highly recommend you the Pavtube HD Video Converter for Mac, which has the strong ability to import any kinds of videos to FCP X for a further editing. You will be satisfied with the easy operation and faster conversion speed.

Customer Reviews from App Store:

Bradley: convert P2 MXF to MPEG and link clips together
I have been using your software as a rudimentary editing system. I am converting MXF files to MPEG-2 files to send to media outlets. We use Panasonic P2 cameras, and without the editing software, we were unable to push video out. With your product, we have been able to easily convert the files to mpeg, and ship them to our ftp site for the media, then post them to our YouTube site. The ability to link multiple clips together has been a lifesaver. I have told my friends about this product and highly recommended it!

Arnold: Convert HD footage directly from cams
I LOVE YOUR SOFTWARE! I tried many others first and yours was the first I found that actually worked, and it is extremely powerful. I am using videos from an Insignia HD camcorder. The original files were incompatible with my current software and also were far too compressed (MEMORY HOGS) for newer software. The videos are in AVI format with an h.264 codec. I particularly like that I can import directly from my camera SD (saves me steps and time).

Perkinson: Perfect synchronization:
I think the software is great- I tried and sampled many others and none were both straight forward AND accurate- particularly with regard to synchronizing audio with the video.

Lucas: Good conversion speed and quality
The product was recommended to me by a local woman who specializes in Mac computers as I was having problems downloading from my new video camera to my software program. The conversion speed and quality are very good. It was so easy to use. I I can say it was very easy to figure out right away and I really appreciate that.

The most important point here is coming, what output formats you want you can all find on the output list. For example, ‘HD Video’ you can find some usual video formats with a high quality suck as MP4, AVI, etc. Especially for other editing tools or media players, just drop down the list, you will find more.

Also, in the ‘Settings’ button, do not forget to adjust your video clips with some personal settings. Let me show you an example: Video size as 1920*1080, bitrates as high quality, frame rate as 30? Each one can be designed for your requirements.

Big news! To celebrate the 2014 Thanksgiving Day, Pavtube studio will hold the biggest promotion you have never met here. You can enjoy the big discount before December 10th, you will not miss it!

Top on Importing AVCHD Video into Final Cut Pro

Today here we are going to start a topic on how to import AVCHD MTS files to FCP in effective ways.

You’d better know more about AVCHD below:
As a popular format for both consumers and professionals, AVCHD has played an important role in video format area. Since the media is compressed when it is recorded it has to be uncompressed to be used in Final Cut Pro.  The method for uncompressing AVCHD in Final Cut Pro is the Log and Transfer. So now we provide you a great video tutorial to show you the way of importing AVCHD videos into Final Cut Pro.

Some explanations you can take as the reference here:
When a camera is connected, it appears in the Finder just like a hard drive, and it acts like one too.  It is a great idea to transfer the contents of the camera to a folder on a hard drive, and then access the media from there.  This has a number of benefits:

First of all, it frees up space on your camera; second of all it creates a compressed archive of your media; this is nice because after you complete your project you can delete the uncompressed files and save considerable space on your hard drive.

Log & Transfer acts like Log & Capture in that it imports the clips into the file browser and stores the actual files in the Capture Scratch.  I hope this has helped you understand using AVCHD media in Final Cut Pro with Log & Transfer.
